A black horse in a cage inside a living room.
A large black horse stands inside a heavy steel cage erected in a carpeted living room, with a red-and-white 'DANGER LIVE HORSE' warning sign affixed to the bars. An older man in a blue sweater sits in a leather recliner to the left, facing the cage, with a television and green curtains visible in the background. Afternoon light filters through the window, casting the room in a muted, domestic palette of beige, brown, and grey.

That little "DANGER LIVE HORSE" sign is doing all the heavy lifting — like the cage in the living room is fine, but legally we had to warn you about the horse. And the guy's posture says this is just a normal Tuesday. Perfectly deadpan.

The detail that gets me is the TV being off. Man knows exactly what the main attraction is.

Here, in this suburban living room, we witness the fundamental condition of mankind — to sit in the recliner, facing the cage, while the horse of his own mortality fills the room, labeled with unnecessary warning. He does not look at the horse. He watches television. This is cinema. — Werner Herzog
