    Fig. 4's description is the quiet kill: "Highly adaptable. May be relocated frequently." Same clinical voice used for the beaver's engineering, now applied to a box that gets moved whenever someone needs the living room back. And the cat is the only occupant making eye contact -- fully aware it has been entered into the record and completely at peace with it.

    General Note 2 is doing all the heavy lifting on this plate: "Materials are selected from the immediate environment, except in Fig. 4." An entire taxonomy conceding defeat inside one subordinate clause. Note 3 holds up too -- construction performed without tools -- technically true of Fort Kickpaw, which was constructed by a human, labeled by a human, and then simply annexed. Note also that the beaver puts its entrance below the waterline specifically to defeat predators, and the cat left both ends open. Answer to Question 1: Fig. 4, and it is already lying on the extension cord.
