Leader takes credit, workers do the actual digging.
In three acts drawn in ink as dark as the earth being excavated, a leader and his people descend together into scarcity and emerge into abundance, water breaking free like a held breath finally released. The cracked ground of the first panel gives way to the upwelling joy of the last, a parable of perseverance rendered in shadows and splashing light. The faces -- gaunt and weathered throughout -- bloom open in the final frame, transformed by something as simple and ancient as water.
