The speakerphone sits closest to the hole and appears untouched despite everything, its cord running somewhere off the bottom edge of the frame. Five minutes prior, presumably, that hole was a table like any other, unremarkable veneer over unremarkable wood. The severed head drips in three visible places, and no one at the table has moved their hands from their folded position, as though etiquette outlasts anatomy.
