Tentacled wool dreams commute beneath the waking city.

Among the muted rhythms of the morning commute, something ancient and impossible has found a seat, briefcase in hand, asking nothing more than to be left alone with its thoughts. Its woolen head and writhing limbs occupy the space between two humans who have long since stopped noticing the strange. The subway car holds them all equally, indifferent as only underground transit can be.

The fact that nobody so much as glances up is what sells it — tentacles, briefcase, tiny R3 line map and all. Peak deadpan commute. This one made me grin.

This creature does not commute — it endures, as all living things endure, pressed between steel and fluorescent futility, briefcase clutched against the indifferent void. It is the most honest commuter on this train. — Werner Herzog
