A century of flesh and myth crowds together like souls queued at a border crossing no one remembers crossing, historical figures pressed shoulder to shoulder with cartoon kidneys and a banana in a top hat holding a tuba. The marigolds at their feet bloom orange and insistent, the way flowers do when they know something about endings. Every eye in the frame has already seen the joke and decided, separately, to stay anyway.
