Filed under Agricultural. Cross-reference: Taxonomy Disputes, Shelf 7.
The chart was almost certainly mounted before anyone read the Latin names closely, which is how these things usually proceed. The tumbleweed, labeled "Rotoliums aimless," sits at the midpoint of the third column, drawn with careful cross-hatching, going nowhere in particular, which is accurate. A farm worker in a broad-brimmed hat eats from a bowl at the bottom of the first column, and the bowl is empty of any identifiable food, a detail that functions less like a metaphor and more like a receipt.
